I have a few friends that have had bizarre experiences here, but I'd figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a shot! I called today just to get a simple quote for an E92 M3 oil change; Darrin answered the phone and told me he couldn't possibly give me a price and insisted that he would have to take a look at the car in his shop(keep in mind, this is for an oil change). I was a bit confused by this and told him the vehicle takes 10W-60 oil....he stopped me there and told me he had "never heard of it in his life", as if I was completely out of my mind. Major red flag considering 10W-60 is the only weight the engine can take. A simple, "I'm not sure, but let me check and call you back with a price" would have sufficed. I was very respectful in my conversation with him, but there is an underlying attitude issue that is consistent with some of the other reviews.
Great mechanic service and very honest people. I'm not taking my car to anyone else.
I was referred to Darrin's shop by a stranger, after striking up a conversation about the woman's Honda Element. In May I stopped by the shop with my 200k-mile Highlander to inquire about correcting some nasty vibration and road noise at speed. Darrin put down his work and jumped right in the car, driving it and asking me about what he was hearing, to give me an idea of what he'd look at and how he'd go about identifying the root problem if I brought it back. No charge. Long story made short, I brought the car back to Darrin last week, and after he inspected the entire suspension and transmission/transfer case he suggested that all of my issues were not suspension-overhaul related as I (novice) had thought. It was just the tires. He gave me a great price and mounted new Michelin tires, swapping out my original spare for one of the retired tires, while simultaneously replacing the spare's leaking valve stem. Only charged me a small amount for all of the time he and his team put into diagnosing the problems. His honesty and straightforwardness has earned him a customer for life. If you're tired of dealership BS....Darrin and his team are the best. This is exactly what the woman with the Element told me to expect from Village Garage. Darrin exceeded my expectations. Give him a shot.
Darrin and his staff are honest, knowledgeable, and thorough. They are good at explaining the problem, while offering affordable options to solve it. I highly recommend them.
The owner is a shady human being. Dealing with paying for service rendered and picking up my car was an absolute nightmare and the problems with my car returned very shortly after. Was so fed up with them that I did not even deal with bringing it back there. Save yourself the headache, go somewhere else.
